Alopecia is an autoimmune disease that causes hair loss and is often associated with emotional burdens. This work portrays women with alopecia to show the strength and beauty of the women affected. Each photograph tells its own individual story and challenges social ideals of beauty. The project aims to break the taboo surrounding bald women and show that beauty is not dependent on hair. The work was created in collaboration with Manuela Seiler, who is herself affected by the disease.
